The Iranian Fisheries Scientific Journal (IFSJ) is a bimonthly, open-access journal that publishes original research in various fields of fisheries science and aquatic biology. The journal was granted scientific-research status by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology on January 27, 2001. IFSJ is published online in Persian, with English abstracts.
Achievements
In 2009, IFSJ was selected as a “Top Journal” by the Book Week Headquarters of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO).
Based on reviewer evaluations conducted in 2025, the journal ranked first among Persian-language publications in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, receiving a score of A points.

IFSJ is a bimonthly, open-access journal. All articles are immediately and freely available online upon publication.
Articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited.
Authors retain the copyright to their published work.

Publication Ethics
IFSJ follows the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and expects all authors, reviewers, and editors to adhere to these principles throughout the publication process.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
Authors submitting manuscripts to IFSJ are required to pay a non-refundable submission fee of 2,000,000 Iranian Rials (200,000 Tomans) at the time of manuscript submission.
Upon acceptance for publication, an additional 3,250,000 Iranian Rials (325,000 Tomans) will be charged to partially cover the costs of publication.
Subscription Policy
IFSJ is published as an open-access electronic journal. There is no subscription fee for readers. All published articles are freely accessible through the journal's website.
Readers can access published articles through the journal’s archive.
Peer Review Policy
IFSJ employs a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not contain information that may reveal their identities during the review process.
Authors may request the exclusion of a particular reviewer from evaluating their manuscript when a potential conflict of interest exists. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers.
The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into consideration the reviewers’ recommendations and the overall scientific quality and suitability of the manuscript for the journal.
