Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The journal recognizes the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models (LLMs), in academic research and scholarly publishing. The use of such technologies must be transparent, responsible, and consistent with research integrity and publication ethics.

1. Use of Generative AI by Authors
Authors may use generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT or other AI-assisted technologies, to improve language, grammar, spelling, readability, or the overall presentation of their manuscript.
However, generative AI tools must not be used as a substitute for the authors' scientific judgment, expertise, or responsibility. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their manuscript.
Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work, disclose conflicts of interest, or meet the requirements of authorship.
Authors are responsible for carefully reviewing and verifying any content generated or modified by AI, including factual statements, references, citations, data, and interpretations. AI-generated information may contain inaccuracies, fabricated references, or misleading statements.
The use of generative AI to create or substantially modify the content of a manuscript should be disclosed by the authors. Where applicable, authors should provide a statement describing the AI tool used and the purpose for which it was used.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate, manipulate, or falsify data, results, images, references, or other scientific information.

2. Disclosure of Generative AI Use
When generative AI has been used in the preparation of a manuscript beyond basic spelling or grammar correction, authors should include an appropriate disclosure statement in the manuscript.
For example:
Declaration of Generative AI Use: During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [describe the purpose, e.g., language editing and improving readability]. The authors reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for the content of the published article.
The journal may request additional information regarding the use of AI when necessary.

3. Generative AI and Peer Review
Reviewers must not upload or disclose confidential manuscript content, including unpublished data, figures, tables, or personal information, to generative AI tools or other external AI systems.
Generative AI must not be used to independently generate or replace a reviewer's scientific assessment. Reviewers remain responsible for the originality, confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of their peer-review reports.
If a reviewer uses an AI tool for limited assistance, such as language improvement, they must ensure that no confidential manuscript information is disclosed.

4. Generative AI and Editors
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not upload confidential manuscript content to generative AI systems that are not authorized by the journal or publisher.
Editors remain responsible for all editorial decisions and must not delegate editorial judgment to generative AI tools.
AI-assisted tools may be used for appropriate administrative or language-related purposes provided that confidentiality, research integrity, and applicable privacy requirements are maintained.

5. AI-Generated Images and Other Content
Authors must clearly disclose the use of generative AI in the creation or modification of images, illustrations, figures, or other visual materials when such use is permitted.
Generative AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate scientific evidence, research results, experimental images, or other materials in a way that could misrepresent the underlying research.
The journal reserves the right to request original data, images, or supporting materials when questions regarding the authenticity or integrity of AI-assisted content arise.

6. Responsibility and Research Integrity
The use of generative AI does not reduce or transfer the authors' responsibility for their work. Authors, reviewers, and editors must comply with the journal's publication ethics, research integrity, confidentiality, copyright, and data protection policies.
Any undisclosed or inappropriate use of generative AI that results in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data or images, fabricated references, or other forms of research misconduct may be investigated in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and misconduct procedures.

7. Policy Updates
This policy may be updated periodically to reflect developments in generative AI technologies, scholarly publishing standards, and recommendations from recognized organizations and indexing services.
